Bernard, JohnEMC(SS)Walter (Stumpy) Taggart reports that John passed away in the early 2000's in Elk Grove, CA. John was an Electrician (nuke) and made Chief on Snook.
Buck, Mark RM(SS) Mark's father, Donald, reports that Mark passed away 7/29/03 in Illinois. See the link for the Arlington National Cemetery for a short eulogy. 
Bucknell III, Howard CDR Howard was the first Commanding Officer of the Snook
Camerchioli, Charles   Charles passed away in a scuba diving accident in Tobermory, Ontario, Canada on 8 August, 2000. He is survived by his parents in Rochester, NY.
Carbonari, Ostiglio F. It is reported by the USSVI Decklog that Ostiglio passed away. According to research, he was born July 25, 1922 and passed away July 10, 2009 in Carol Stream, IL. He served on the first Snook SS 279.

Charbonneau, Paul J. CS1(SS) Paul retired from the Navy in 1970 as a CSCS(SS) and passed away June 1980. He is survived by his wife Emiko, duaghter Ramona and sons Paul E. and Charles. Paul was a plankowner on Snook.

Craig, David E. EN1(SS) David's son, Steve, reports his father passed away in 1992 from cancer. David was a plankowner on Snook.

Downes, Peter J.

Peter's son, Peter Jr., reports his dad passed away on October 19, 2004, in Moreno Valley, California. He was buried with full miltary honors at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California. He is survived by his two sons and his sister, Marie of Vermont. Peter served aboard Snook from 3/62 to 12/64.
Dunnivan, James R.  TM1(SS) Jim's wife, Maggie, reports he passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003 with lung cancer. Jim was part of the Snook commissioning crew.
Englen, Phil EM2(SS)Jack Dabney reports via Lynn Englen that EM2(SS) Phil Englen passed away in 2008.
Forsgren, RayQM(SS)Jim Payne reports that Ray passed away a few years ago (reported 2009). Ray's wife, Linda, has remarried and is living in Gilbert, AZ with her new family.
Freske, Lawrence A. MMCS(SS)It is reported by the USSVI Decklog that Lawrence passed away 3/20/09.
Garth, Harold "Chuck" EM2(SS) It has been reported that Chuck passed away Saturday, March 19, 2005. Burial is to be just outside Lafayette, Indiana.
Hoskins, Richard ICC(SS) Richard's son, David, reports that his father passed away August 5, 1991. Richard served as a Chief IC man on Snook during the early 70's.
Johnson, James T. (Jimmy)MM1(SS) (DV)It has been reported that Jimmy Johnson passed away December 18, 2009. Jimmy had cancer, went into remission a few years ago and then came back this fall.
Kaup, Karl L. RADM Karl passed away 30 December, 1998 in San Diego, CA. He is survived by his wife, Donna, daughters Stacy Kaup, Jennifer Hannon, and Amy Vigeant, brothers Dr. David Kaup and Michael Kaup, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kellog, Jack MM3(SS) It is reported by Steve Svenvold that Jack died in a car accident in 1971 shortly after leaving the Navy. He was a big man with a big heart, and a good guy to be on liberty with.

Lallement, Emile EM1(SS) His daughter reports he passed away in December, 2001. Emile served on Snook from 1964 - 1968.
Nartowicz, Francis "Ski" EN1(SS) Marybeth Johnson reports her grandfather passed away on September 8th, 1993. Some time after Snook, Francis wrote short stories and submitted them to magazines such as Reader's Digest. He even wrote a book but passed away before it could be published. Francis was a plankowner on Snook.
Patterson, Lyle G.EMC(SS)It is reported by the USSVI Decklog that Lyle passed away 12/5/02.
Newman, Payton (Alfie) ET2(SS) Roger Morris reports that "Alfie" passed away in 1976 of a heart attack.
Pittenger, Kenneth F.MM1(SS)Gina Lozano, Ken's granddaughter, reports that Ken passed away on October15, 2005. Ken was on Snook during the 1973 time frame.
Prince, GeorgeMMCM(SS)George's wife reported to Ron Athey that George passed away March 7, 2010 and was laid to rest March 31, 2010 at Rosecrans in San Diego.
Ray, Valton L. CSC(SS) Val was a plankowner on Snook and he is remembered for running a great mess onboard as Chief Commissaryman. Val passed away on May 29th, 2001.
Rouse, WayneMM1(SS)According to current USSVI records (as reported by Charles (Frenchy) Dauphin), Wayne Rouse, a member of the commissioning crew passed away 2/04/03. Wayne retired as a LCDR(LDO) and was living in Virginia Beach. He was a member of the Peoria base of USSVI .
Siemonsma, Daniel J,RMCS(SS)It is reported by the USSVI Decklog that Daniel passed away 11/4/08.
Sliacky, Edward ETCS(SS) Ed was a plankowner on Snook and served in the RC Division. He retired as ETCS(SS) and lived in Old Saybrook, CT., later moving to Lillian, AL. He is survived by his wife, Olga. Ed passed away 9 September, 1998.
Smith, Marshall Dale FTCS(SS) "Smitty" was a plankowner on Snook and passed away December 23, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Rose, four daughters, and a grandson.
Spide, Robert (Spider) ETC(SS) Bob was a plankowner on Snook and passed away October 29, 2005 at 2030 hours in Washington D.C. His long time friend, "Mac" McPherson, was at his side. He was cremated and his ashes will be sent to Mac in Texas and kept there until such time as the 2007 USSVI convention cruise to Alaska. Bob always wanted to go there but never made it. Mac will spread his ashes during the cruise. Bob had been evacuated from the Armed Forces Home in Gulfport due to hurricane Katrina. Cause of death is unknown but he had suffered for years with lung problems. Bob was instrumental in organizing past Snook reunions and will be sorely missed.

Stuart, John E. QM1(SS) John was a plankowner on Snook and passed away April 22, 1997
Sukow, Robert E. Jr.ICC(SS)It is reported by the USSVI Decklog that Robert passed away 2/12/04.
Summitt, Charles D.LCDRIt is reported by the USSVI Decklog that Charles passed away 1/1/09. He was the XO in 1960.
Swain, Vernon MM1(SS) Vern went to NPTU, Windsor in '76 where he served as Site LELT. Vern  made a career of the Navy and advanced to E-9 and served over 20 years before being discharged after suffering at least 1 stroke. Following his discharge he returned to Texas and suffered several more strokes before passing away in July, 1999 of cardiac failure.
Templeman, Thomas L.   His wife, Elaine, reported he passed away at age 51 on February 10, 1994. No other details. 
Tillery, Lee RoyEMC(SS)Lee was a plank owner and his daughter, Peggy, reports her dad died of colon cancer May 20, 2008. He was 78. She notes how he was proud of his Navy service and she just wanted everyone to know he is gone.  Peggy has the plank from the Snook that he had. 
Vallecorsa, Ron

Gervase Rybak reports that our shipmate Ron Vallecorsa passed away on February 8, 2009. Ron had a long battle with cancer over the last couple of years. Gervase had talked with and E-mailed Ron over the years. They had a nice phone conversation about three months ago and he always had good words to say about life. Ron always had a positive outlook with his battle with cancer and we had a ton of laughs.
When onboard the Snook, I know he had a good time and enjoyed the company of his shipmates.
“WHOP” I hope you are in a good place and will remember us when we come to visit you wherever you are at the time.

Art Sievers reports that Roger was a Nuc ET on Snook and then went to Sea Devil. 
He died in an accident at Surry in 1972.
Yates, William K.CAPTIt is reported by the USSVI Decklog that WIlliam passed away 2/15/09. Yates was the CO from 2/63 to 11/64.
Zach, Ron   Ron's wife reports he died of a massive heart attack on January 16, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital, Tacoma, Washington.
